Betting Edge
Every game this week, graded on our confidence. Not filtered to only the ones we like.
Why this is worth trusting
Elite is not a marketing word here. It describes a specific process: leakage-safe backtesting, calibration testing on top of accuracy testing, and a model that is rebuilt weekly instead of frozen in September. The result is a set of grades we can stand behind precisely because we know exactly what they do and do not claim.
Leakage-safe by design
Every backtest runs walk-forward. The model only ever sees data that would have actually been available before kickoff. No future box scores, no final injury reports, nothing that would let a number look smarter in hindsight than it really was.
Calibration tested, not just accuracy tested
A model can be accurate and still be overconfident. We track calibration separately: when we say 70%, teams graded around 70% actually win close to 70% of the time. That gap, not a win-loss record, is what our 0.034 calibration error measures.
We use the market, we don't pretend to beat it
Sportsbook lines price in real information we can't otherwise see, from injury reports to sharp money. Our win probabilities use the market's own closing line as one input alongside our team and QB form data, not as a number we're trying to outsmart. We're not claiming to have found some edge the market missed; we're honest that we now use what it already knows.
Quiet weeks stay quiet
When our inputs do not line up, offense, defense, QB form, rest, and home field pointing in different directions, we show a low grade instead of manufacturing a confident-sounding take. A flat week on the board means the model genuinely does not see an edge.
Rebuilt every week
The model retrains as the season develops. A hot start, a new starter, a shifting offensive line, all of it gets folded back in, so a grade from Week 4 reflects Week 4, not a preseason snapshot.
Transparent about the limits
It cannot see a Saturday-night inactive list, it discounts small samples like a rookie QB's first two starts, and it will not pretend a coin flip is a strong read. Knowing what a model cannot do is part of trusting what it can.
